Once in a life:
A man has only one father and one mother that can be called by him real parents. Attachment and relationship developed with them gets seasoned with passage of time. This bond of love grows with the growing age and never stops to get stronger even if a child becomes a man at his later stage of age.
I don't know what others feel when their father or mother pass away as this is once in a life time experience.
However, I can share what I felt when my father passed away 18 years ago in 2000. Although, I was living an independent, married life with innocent loving kids but it was the day when I felt myself stranded in wilderness without any shelter. A feeling of being vulnerable to dangers. It took long time to recover from this situation.
On Friday October 12, 2018 I went through another lifetime experience when my mother passed away after a prolonged illness. It has literally turned me mentally too old. No doubt, it's a reality. After passing away of parents, we become on the top in seniority list but mostly we ignore this fact.
Still there is time to do something good for coming days......., when we will pass away and our kids will become senior most. Asking Mercy of our Lord and forgiveness in the Hereafter is the way taught to us by Allah and His Messenger PBUH. Also we can send gift of reward by doing some good deeds to them from time to time. If we do this today for our parents, tomorrow our kids will do it for us, in sha Allah.
May Allah forgive my father and mother and grant them permanent abode in Janatul firdous, Ameen. Oh Allah! grant Maghfirah to the parents of all who are reading this post and grant them Janatul Firdous. Ameen
