Tongue in State of Madina?
Tongue is a very important part of human body. It can take one to the heights of heavens and can throw one in the deep ditches of hell. The way our print and electronic media is spoiled with the misuse of tongue by the public representatives in the government, is contrary to the claim of PM about following the model of State of Madina. Let’s see a glimpse of the sayings of Founder of State of Madina – Muhammad PBUH.
Sahl bin Sa`d (radiallahu anh) reported: The Messenger of Allah (salallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, "Whosoever gives me a guarantee to safeguard what is between his jaws and what is between his legs, I shall guarantee him Jannah.''
[Al-Bukhari]
What is between the jaws and what is between the legs refers to the tongue and the sexual organs, respectively. They should be guarded against every act that is prohibited by the Shari`ah. Another saying of Holy Prophet PBUH warns of the consequence of misuse of tongue as follows:
Abu Hurairah (radiallahu anh) reported: I heard the Prophet (salallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) saying, "A person utters a word thoughtlessly (i.e., without thinking about its being good or not) and, as a result of this, he will fall down into the fire of Hell deeper than the distance between the east and the west.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Unfortunately, the motherland is experiencing something totally different. Although, misuse of tongue when in opposition is equally wrong but it’s understandable. However, it can’t be expected from rulers who claim to introduce model of State of Madina. What about misusing your tongue and then insisting on it, calling names and blaming others without proof and still feeling proud of such sins?
Astaghfirullah. May Allah give us hidayah and ability to follow true teachings of Islam, Ameen.
